Windows 7 Support FAQ
As of January 14, 2020, Microsoft ended support for Windows 7. This was done to focus Microsoft’s commitment to maintaining support for newer technologies.
What does this mean?
- The IT department wants to inform all current users of Windows 7 devices that IT will no longer support these devices after June 2nd, 2021.
- Staff members needing assistance swapping out their Windows 7 device for a newer device must contact the IT department before June 2nd, 2021 to receive help with transferring their data to the new machine.
- Support for Windows 7 devices by Microsoft ended on January 14th, 2020. These devices do not receive security updates or patches, are incompatible with multi-factor authentication, and constitute a severe security risk.
- Windows 7 devices will be prevented from using TPS network services after June 11th, 2021.

What should you do?
- If you have a device on windows 7, (check this list to see if your device is supported).
- If your device is still supported, you will need to submit a ticket to get your device upgraded to Windows 10.
Moving programs
- You should still be able to use programs on Windows 10 that you were previously using on Windows 7.
- In Windows 10 you will have access to Company Portal through which you can install and use applications approved by the district.
- If you have any issues with software or cannot find software you need, you can submit a ticket to receive assistance with that.
Microsoft Office
- Moving to Windows 10 will allow you to use the most up-to-date version of Microsoft Office, Office 365.
Internet Explorer
- Internet explorer is still accessible in Windows 10. Along with this Microsoft also has Microsoft Edge preinstalled with similar compatibility to Internet Explorer.
Security Updates
- Security updates are very important to keep you and your devices safe in the ever-evolving digital landscape. This means that if you are still using Windows 7, your devices are more susceptible to viruses and other digital threats.
